If you really love beer, then you’ll understand why Charles Back and Andy Kung felt there was something missing in the Cape region. They wanted their country to have a brewery that celebrated the culture of real beer. Making their own beers, just as they should be made. A Craft Beer brewery.
When the Swedish brewer, Henrik Dunge, joined the team, CBC became reality. Sweden’s own proud beer-making history dates back to the Vikings. Even the word “ale” is derived from the Scandinavian word “öl”. This is not the first time a Swedish brewer has made his mark in South Africa. Jacob Letterstedt fled from Stockholm to South Africa and in 1840 he started Mariendahl Brewery in Newlands. Today his Josepinhe Mill is a national treasure and a museum. Anders Ohlsson, yet another Swede, continued to forge a bond between Swedish and South African beer traditions with his Ohlsson’s Lager and Lion Lager. He laid the foundation for what has now become the multinational corporation, SAB-Miller.
So when you want to experience the wonderful world of beer in all its facets – beer brewed with the greatest skill from the best ingredients and the purest spring water from Paarl Mountain, made without any mumbo jumbo or additives of any kind – enjoy Craft Beer from CBC.
