Hollywood is coming to South Africa this week on a tour that could set Cape Town up as one of the most filmed cities and locations.

It could also turn it into one of the premier movie-making destinations on the planet.

If you are driving past Spier on the R310 and something big and bright draws your attention, it will be one of three new art installations created by leading South African artists and sponsored by the Spier Architectural Arts.

The big red steel sculpture, titled Vortex is by Richard Forbes and despite its size and weight seems to still be moving – a cross between a farming implement and a mechanised tolbos.

"Marshmallows and Jellybeans are not nearly as sweet
As a lazy river cruise, with a Stanford sunset,
You, Me and our
Pet Sheep, Pete!"

The Overberg village of Stanford is putting their best romantic foot forward with a Facebook competition that’s for poets and scribes alike. Put pen to paper and create your own quirky love note, and you could win a Stanford Experience for two!

Weskaap Fotos Asseblief

January 24, 2014 By:

Anyone living in or visiting the Claremont/Rondebosch area recently will have noticed posters going up for the return of theRondebosch Pop-up Super Market.

This small community market originally launched back in September 2013, and we went along in October tohave a looksee.

  1. liked what we saw, and were sad when the market temporarily closed its doors (for various reasons, including festive season craziness and the mourning period that followed Nelson Mandela’s passing). But, happily, they are back and hopefully will be able to build up some new momentum.

The market times have changed, now running from 9.30am to 2.30pm (previously 10.30am-3.30pm)

Venue: Round Table Community Hall at the corner of Keurboom and Chess Roads, Rondebosch.

For more information, visit the market’s profile page or contact organisers on 082 626 1716 or 0833248962 or email   This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Sunday 26 January 2014 (9.30am-2.30pm)
